Comment spam redux

Wow, comment spam hit with a vengeance this weekend. Some spammers must have just developed a new tool for automated comment spamming. As a result, I’ve closed comments on all but the most recent posts here, which should not only cut down the comment spam, but also the random, often unintelligible comments that people post to the old entries.
